Phi Gamma Delta
Phi Gamma Delta Discovers the Power of In-house Website Management and Data Integrity with Blackbaud® NetCommunity™
Founded in 1848, Phi Gamma Delta is a men's social fraternity represented on 118 campuses throughout the United States and Canada. Phi Gamma Delta exists to promote lifelong friendships, to reaffirm high ethical standards and values, and to foster personal development in the pursuit of excellence. Phi Gamma Delta is committed to providing opportunities to each brother to develop responsibility, leadership, scholarship, and social skills to become a fully contributing member of society.
The Challenge:
- The Phi Gamma Delta’s website was stored, managed, and maintained by a third-party vendor limiting the organization’s ability to make changes.
- Once changes were submitted, the organization would have to wait weeks for them to get made.
- Additionally, the fraternity had to conduct weekly data imports from
its offsite website into its Raiser’s Edge database.
- The organization lacked the ability to provide individual chapters with their own websites.
- With data coming from 118 chapters across the United States and Canada and over 150,000 members, the fraternity had a lot of one-off data coming in that required technical time to manage and import into The Raiser’s Edge.
The Solution:
- With Blackbaud NetCommunity, the fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta has a website that is integrated with its database, making updates more efficient and convenient.
- With the chapter management fun-ctionality in BBNC, the organization can enable chapters to set up and maintain their own chapter-specific websites.
- The ease-of-use of BBNC enables staff to make changes to the website when they want, creating a dynamic and up-to-date website.
- Additionally, the Team Fundraising module of BBNC lets each chapter do its own fundraising.
- Now, when members update their information, it is easily entered into The Raiser’s Edge, leading to greater data integrity and saving time on data management.
The Results:
- The organization saves approximately an hour a week uploading data from their website into The Raiser’s Edge.
- Each year, the fraternity adds approx-imately 2,500 members/records that previously would have to be manually entered or uploaded.
- Each chapter is able to save 50 percent on its online fundraising technology by using Team Fundraising in BBNC.
- One chapter raised almost a quarter of its goal in only two months to make improvements to the chapter house using Team Fundraising.
